BOCS took over Wibsey Community Gardens in 2016. We have a team of dedicated, hardworking volunteers who have turned the Gardens into a successful site, growing soft fruit, salad and vegetables.
The site has 3 polytunnels, allowing us to grow a wide variety of different plants. Our volunteers tend the beds, and harvest the results, which we then sell to the local community. Using only organic growing methods, this creates a source of fresh and delicious produce that's accessible to as many people as possible.
We also have an onsite apiary where our beekeepers tend to a series of hives. This not only benefits our plants, helping to pollinate them, but we also get a regular crop of honey, which is one of our biggest sellers.
We work closely with schools, running events on site. This gives children an opportunity to learn about fruit and veg, how it's grown, and how to cook and eat healthier.
